Matthew

1: 23"Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means, "God (theos) is with us."
3: 9Do not presume to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our ancestor'; for I tell you, God (theos) is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
3: 16And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God (theos) descending like a dove and alighting on him.
4: 3The tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God (theos), command these stones to become loaves of bread."
4: 4But he answered, "It is written, 'One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (theos).'"
4: 6saying to him, "If you are the Son of God (theos), throw yourself down; for it is written, 'He will command his angels concerning you,' and 'On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.'"
4: 7Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'Do not put the Lord your God (theos) to the test.'"

12: 4He entered the house of God (theos) and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him or his companions to eat, but only for the priests.
12: 28But if it is by the Spirit of God (theos) that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God (theos) has come to you.
14: 33And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God (theos)."
15: 3He answered them, "And why do you break the commandment of God (theos) for the sake of your tradition?
15: 4For God (theos) said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.'
15: 6So, for the sake of your tradition, you make void the word of God (theos).
15: 31so that the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised the God (theos) of Israel.
16: 16Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God (theos)."
16: 23But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things."
19: 6So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God (theos) has joined together, let no one separate."
19: 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God (theos)."
19: 26But Jesus looked at them and said, "For mortals it is impossible, but for God (theos) all things are possible."
21: 31Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God (theos) ahead of you.
21: 43Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God (theos) will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the kingdom.
22: 16So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God (theos) in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality.
22: 21They answered, "The emperor's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor's, and to God (theos) the things that are God (theos)'s."
22: 29Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God (theos).
22: 31And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God (theos),
22: 32'I am the God (theos) of Abraham, the God (theos) of Isaac, and the God (theos) of Jacob'? He is God (theos) not of the dead, but of the living."
22: 37He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God (theos) with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
23: 22and whoever swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God (theos) and by the one who is seated upon it.
26: 61and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God (theos) and to build it in three days.'"
26: 63But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath before the living God (theos), tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God (theos)."
27: 40and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God (theos), come down from the cross."
27: 43He trusts in God (theos); let God (theos) deliver him now, if he wants to; for he said, 'I am God (theos)'s Son.'"
27: 46And about three o'clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that is, "My God (theos), my God (theos), why have you forsaken me?"

1: 14Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God (theos),
1: 15and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God (theos) has come near; repent, and believe in the good news."
1: 24and he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God (theos)."
2: 7"Why does this fellow speak in this way? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God (theos) alone?"
2: 12And he stood up, and immediately took the mat and went out before all of them; so that they were all amazed and glorified God (theos), saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"
2: 26He entered the house of God (theos), when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions."

9: 1And he said to them, "Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God (theos) has come with power."
9: 47And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God (theos) with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell,
10: 9Therefore what God (theos) has joined together, let no one separate."
10: 14But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God (theos) belongs.

13: 19For in those days there will be suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God (theos) created until now, no, and never will be.
14: 25Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God (theos)."
15: 34At three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God (theos), my God (theos), why have you forsaken me?"
15: 39Now when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was God (theos)'s Son!"
15: 43Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God (theos), went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
16: 19So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God (theos).

Luke

1: 6Both of them were righteous before God (theos), living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.
1: 8Once when he was serving as priest before God (theos) and his section was on duty,
1: 16He will turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God (theos).
1: 19The angel replied, "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God (theos), and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
1: 26In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God (theos) to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,

8: 21But he said to them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God (theos) and do it."

8: 39"Return to your home, and declare how much God (theos) has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.

12: 21So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God (theos)."
12: 24Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God (theos) feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!

13: 28There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God (theos), and you yourselves thrown out.
13: 29Then people will come from east and west, from north and south, and will eat in the kingdom of God (theos).
14: 15One of the dinner guests, on hearing this, said to him, "Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God (theos)!"
15: 10Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God (theos) over one sinner who repents."
16: 13No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God (theos) and wealth."
16: 15So he said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of others; but God (theos) knows your hearts; for what is prized by human beings is an abomination in the sight of God (theos).
16: 16"The law and the prophets were in effect until John came; since then the good news of the kingdom of God (theos) is proclaimed, and everyone tries to enter it by force.
17: 15Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God (theos) with a loud voice.
17: 18Was none of them found to return and give praise to God (theos) except this foreigner?"
17: 20Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God (theos) was coming, and he answered, "The kingdom of God (theos) is not coming with things that can be observed;
17: 21nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or 'There it is!' For, in fact, the kingdom of God (theos) is among you."
18: 2He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God (theos) nor had respect for people.
18: 4For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, 'Though I have no fear of God (theos) and no respect for anyone,
18: 7And will not God (theos) grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them?
18: 11The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, 'God (theos), I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
18: 13But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, 'God (theos), be merciful to me, a sinner!'
18: 16But Jesus called for them and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God (theos) belongs.
18: 17Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God (theos) as a little child will never enter it."

19: 37As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God (theos) joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen,
20: 21So they asked him, "Teacher, we know that you are right in what you say and teach, and you show deference to no one, but teach the way of God (theos) in accordance with truth.
20: 25He said to them, "Then give to the emperor the things that are the emperor's, and to God (theos) the things that are God (theos)'s."
20: 36Indeed they cannot die anymore, because they are like angels and are children of God (theos), being children of the resurrection.
20: 37And the fact that the dead are raised Moses himself showed, in the story about the bush, where he speaks of the Lord as the God (theos) of Abraham, the God (theos) of Isaac, and the God (theos) of Jacob.
20: 38Now he is God (theos) not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all of them are alive."
21: 31So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God (theos) is near.

24: 19He asked them, "What things?" They replied, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God (theos) and all the people,
24: 53and they were continually in the temple blessing God (theos).

John

1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God (theos), and the Word was God (theos).
1: 2He was in the beginning with God (theos).
1: 6There was a man sent from God (theos), whose name was John.
1: 12But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God (theos),
1: 13who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God (theos).
1: 18No one has ever seen God (theos). It is God (theos) the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known.
1: 29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, "Here is the Lamb of God (theos) who takes away the sin of the world!

3: 17"Indeed, God (theos) did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
3: 18Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God (theos).
3: 21But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God (theos)."
3: 33Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God (theos) is true.
3: 34He whom God (theos) has sent speaks the words of God (theos), for he gives the Spirit without measure.
3: 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God (theos)'s wrath.
4: 10Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God (theos), and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."
4: 24God (theos) is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
5: 18For this reason the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because he was not only breaking the sabbath, but was also calling God (theos) his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God (theos).
5: 25"Very truly, I tell you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God (theos), and those who hear will live.
5: 42But I know that you do not have the love of God (theos) in you.
5: 44How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God (theos)?
6: 27Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God (theos) the Father has set his seal."
6: 28Then they said to him, "What must we do to perform the works of God (theos)?"
6: 29Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God (theos), that you believe in him whom he has sent."
6: 33For the bread of God (theos) is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
6: 45It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God (theos).' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me.
6: 46Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God (theos); he has seen the Father.
6: 69We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God (theos)."
7: 17Anyone who resolves to do His will know whether the teaching is from God (theos) or whether I am speaking on my own.
8: 40but now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God (theos). This is not what Abraham did.
8: 41You are indeed doing what your father does." They said to him, "We are not illegitimate children; we have one father, God (theos) himself."
8: 42Jesus said to them, "If God (theos) were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God (theos) and now I am here. I did not come on my own, but he sent me.
8: 47Whoever is from God (theos) hears the words of God (theos). The reason you do not hear them is that you are not from God (theos)."
8: 54Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, he of whom you say, 'He is our God (theos),'
9: 3Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God (theos)'s works might be revealed in him.
9: 16Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God (theos), for he does not observe the sabbath." But others said, "How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?" And they were divided.
9: 24So for the second time they called the man who had been blind, and they said to him, "Give glory to God (theos)! We know that this man is a sinner."
9: 29We know that God (theos) has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we do not know where he comes from."
9: 31We know that God (theos) does not listen to sinners, but he does listen to one who worships him and obeys his will.
9: 33If this man were not from God (theos), he could do nothing."
10: 33The Jews answered, "It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you, but for blasphemy, because you, though only a human being, are making yourself God (theos)."
10: 34Jesus answered, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, you are gods (theos)'?
10: 35If those to whom the word of God (theos) came were called 'gods (theos)' - and the scripture cannot be annulled -
10: 36can you say that the one whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world is blaspheming because I said, 'I am God (theos)'s Son'?
11: 4But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God (theos)'s glory, so that the Son of God (theos) may be glorified through it."
11: 22But even now I know that God (theos) will give you whatever you ask of God (theos)."
11: 27She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God (theos), the one coming into the world."
11: 40Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God (theos)?"
11: 52and not for the nation only, but to gather into one the dispersed children of God (theos).
12: 43for they loved human glory more than the glory that comes from God (theos).
13: 3Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God (theos) and was going to God (theos),
13: 31When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God (theos) has been glorified in him.
13: 32If God (theos) has been glorified in him, God (theos) will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once.
14: 1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God (theos), believe also in me.
16: 2They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, an hour is coming when those who kill you will think that by doing so they are offering worship to God (theos).
16: 27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God (theos).
16: 30Now we know that you know all things, and do not need to have anyone question you; by this we believe that you came from God (theos)."
17: 3And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God (theos), and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
19: 7The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God (theos)."
20: 17Jesus said to her, "Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God (theos) and your God (theos).'"
20: 28Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God (theos)!"
20: 31But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God (theos), and that through believing you may have life in his name.
21: 19(He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God (theos).) After this he said to him, "Follow me."

Acts

1: 3After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God (theos).
2: 11Cretans and Arabs - in our own languages we hear them speaking about God (theos)'s deeds of power."
2: 17'In the last days it will be, God (theos) declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
2: 22"You that are Israelites, listen to what I have to say: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God (theos) with deeds of power, wonders, and signs that God (theos) did through him among you, as you yourselves know -

3: 21who must remain in heaven until the time of universal restoration that God (theos) announced long ago through his holy prophets.
3: 22Moses said, 'The Lord your God (theos) will raise up for you from your own people a prophet like me. You must listen to whatever he tells you.
3: 25You are the descendants of the prophets and of the covenant that God (theos) gave to your ancestors, saying to Abraham, 'And in your descendants all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'
3: 26When God (theos) raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
4: 10let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that this man is standing before you in good health by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God (theos) raised from the dead.
4: 19But Peter and John answered them, "Whether it is right in God (theos)'s sight to listen to you rather than to God (theos), you must judge;
4: 21After threatening them again, they let them go, finding no way to punish them because of the people, for all of them praised God (theos) for what had happened.
4: 24When they heard it, they raised their voices together to God (theos) and said, "Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and everything in them,
4: 31When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God (theos) with boldness.
5: 4While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God (theos)!"
5: 29But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God (theos) rather than any human authority.
5: 30The God (theos) of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.
5: 31God (theos) exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
5: 32And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God (theos) has given to those who obey him."
5: 39but if it is of God (theos), you will not be able to overthrow them - in that case you may even be found fighting against the divine!" They were convinced by him,
6: 2And the twelve called together the whole community of the disciples and said, "It is not right that we should neglect the word of God (theos) in order to wait on tables.
6: 7The word of God (theos) continued to spread; the number of the disciples increased greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
6: 11Then they secretly instigated some men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God (theos)."
7: 2And Stephen replied: "Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God (theos) of glory appeared to our ancestor Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,
7: 6And God (theos) spoke in these terms, that his descendants would be resident aliens in a country belonging to others, who would enslave them and mistreat them during four hundred years.
7: 7'But I will judge the nation that they serve,' said God (theos), 'and after that they shall come out and worship me in this place.'
7: 9"The patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God (theos) was with him,
7: 17"But as the time drew near for the fulfillment of the promise that God (theos) had made to Abraham, our people in Egypt increased and multiplied
7: 20At this time Moses was born, and he was beautiful before God (theos). For three months he was brought up in his father's house;
7: 25He supposed that his kinsfolk would understand that God (theos) through him was rescuing them, but they did not understand.
7: 32'I am the God (theos) of your ancestors, the God (theos) of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look.
7: 35"It was this Moses whom they rejected when they said, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' and whom God (theos) now sent as both ruler and liberator through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
7: 37This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, 'God (theos) will raise up a prophet for you from your own people as he raised me up.'
7: 40saying to Aaron, 'Make gods ( theos ) for us who will lead the way for us; as for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.'
7: 42But God (theos) turned away from them and handed them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: 'Did you offer to me slain victims and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
7: 43No; you took along the tent of Moloch, and the star of your god (theos) Rephan, the images that you made to worship; so I will remove you beyond Babylon.'
7: 45Our ancestors in turn brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations that God (theos) drove out before our ancestors. And it was there until the time of David,
7: 46who found favor with God (theos) and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the house of Jacob.
7: 55But filled with the Holy Spirit, he gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God (theos) and Jesus standing at the right hand of God (theos).
7: 56"Look," he said, "I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God (theos)!"
8: 10All of them, from the least to the greatest, listened to him eagerly, saying, "This man is the power of God (theos) that is called Great."
8: 12But when they believed Philip, who was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God (theos) and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
8: 14Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God (theos), they sent Peter and John to them.
8: 20But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God (theos)'s gift with money!
8: 21You have no part or share in this, for your heart is not right before God (theos).
9: 20and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God (theos)."
10: 2He was a devout man who feared God (theos) with all his household; he gave alms generously to the people and prayed constantly to God (theos).
10: 3One afternoon at about three o'clock he had a vision in which he clearly saw an angel of God (theos) coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius."
10: 4He stared at him in terror and said, "What is it, Lord?" He answered, "Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God (theos).
10: 15The voice said to him again, a second time, "What God (theos) has made clean, you must not call profane."
10: 22They answered, "Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God (theos)-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say."
10: 28and he said to them, "You yourselves know that it is unlawful for a Jew to associate with or to visit a Gentile; but God (theos) has shown me that I should not call anyone profane or unclean.
10: 31He said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God (theos).
10: 33Therefore I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. So now all of us are here in the presence of God (theos) to listen to all that the Lord has commanded you to say."
10: 34Then Peter began to speak to them: "I truly understand that God (theos) shows no partiality,
10: 38how God (theos) anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God (theos) was with him.
10: 40but God (theos) raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear,
10: 41not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God (theos) as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
10: 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God (theos) as judge of the living and the dead.
10: 46for they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God (theos). Then Peter said,
11: 1Now the apostles and the believers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also accepted the word of God (theos).
11: 9But a second time the voice answered from heaven, 'What God (theos) has made clean, you must not call profane.'
11: 17If then God (theos) gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God (theos)?"
11: 18When they heard this, they were silenced. And they praised God (theos), saying, "Then God (theos) has given even to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life."
11: 23When he came and saw the grace of God (theos), he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion;
12: 5While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God (theos) for him.
12: 22The people kept shouting, "The voice of a god (theos), and not of a mortal!"
12: 23And immediately, because he had not given the glory to God (theos), an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
12: 24But the word of God (theos) continued to advance and gain adherents.
13: 5When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God (theos) in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also to assist them.
13: 7He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God (theos).
13: 16So Paul stood up and with a gesture began to speak: "You Israelites, and others who fear God (theos), listen.
13: 17The God (theos) of this people Israel chose our ancestors and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it.
13: 21Then they asked for a king; and God (theos) gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.
13: 23Of this man's posterity God (theos) has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised;
13: 26"My brothers, you descendants of Abraham's family, and others who fear God (theos), to us the message of this salvation has been sent.
13: 30But God (theos) raised him from the dead;
13: 33God (theos) has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, 'You are my Son; today I have begotten you.'
13: 36For David, after he had served the purpose of God (theos) in his own generation, died, was laid beside his ancestors, and experienced corruption;
13: 37but he whom God (theos) raised up experienced no corruption.
13: 43When the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God (theos).
13: 46Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, "It was necessary that the word of God (theos) should be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the Gentiles.
14: 11When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods (theos) have come down to us in human form!"
14: 15"Friends, why are you doing this? We are mortals just like you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God (theos), who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.
14: 22There they strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying, "It is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God (theos)."
14: 26From there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God (theos) for the work that they had completed.
14: 27When they arrived, they called the church together and related all that God (theos) had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith for the Gentiles.
15: 4When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all that God (theos) had done with them.
15: 7After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, "My brothers, you know that in the early days God (theos) made a choice among you, that I should be the one through whom the Gentiles would hear the message of the good news and become believers.
15: 8And God (theos), who knows the human heart, testified to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he did to us;
15: 10Now therefore why are you putting God (theos) to the test by placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?
15: 12The whole assembly kept silence, and listened to Barnabas and Paul as they told of all the signs and wonders that God (theos) had done through them among the Gentiles.
15: 14Simeon has related how God (theos) first looked favorably on the Gentiles, to take from among them a people for his name.
15: 19Therefore I have reached the decision that we should not trouble those Gentiles who are turning to God (theos),
16: 10When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God (theos) had called us to proclaim the good news to them.
16: 14A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God (theos), was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul.
16: 17While she followed Paul and us, she would cry out, "These men are slaves of the Most High God (theos), who proclaim to you a way of salvation."
16: 25About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God (theos), and the prisoners were listening to them.
16: 34He brought them up into the house and set food before them; and he and his entire household rejoiced that he had become a believer in God (theos).
17: 13But when the Jews of Thessalonica learned that the word of God (theos) had been proclaimed by Paul in Beroea as well, they came there too, to stir up and incite the crowds.
17: 23For as I went through the city and looked carefully at the objects of your worship, I found among them an altar with the inscription, 'To an unknown god (theos).' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
17: 24The God (theos) who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands,
17: 27so that they would search for God (theos) and perhaps grope for him and find him - though indeed he is not far from each one of us.
17: 29Since we are God (theos)'s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals.
17: 30While God (theos) has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
18: 7Then he left the synagogue and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus, a worshiper of God (theos); his house was next door to the synagogue.
18: 11He stayed there a year and six months, teaching the word of God (theos) among them.
18: 13They said, "This man is persuading people to worship God (theos) in ways that are contrary to the law."
18: 21but on taking leave of them, he said, "I will return to you, if God (theos) wills." Then he set sail from Ephesus.
18: 26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained the Way of God (theos) to him more accurately.
19: 8He entered the synagogue and for three months spoke out boldly, and argued persuasively about the kingdom of God (theos).
19: 11God (theos) did extraordinary miracles through Paul,
19: 26You also see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost the whole of Asia this Paul has persuaded and drawn away a considerable number of people by saying that things made with hands are not gods (theos).
19: 37You have brought these men here who are neither temple robbers nor blasphemers of our goddess (theos).
20: 21as I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God (theos) and faith toward our Lord Jesus.
20: 24But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God (theos)'s grace.
20: 27for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God (theos).
20: 28Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God (theos) that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.
20: 32And now I commend you to God (theos) and to the message of his grace, a message that is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all who are sanctified.
21: 19After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God (theos) had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
21: 20When they heard it, they praised God (theos). Then they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and they are all zealous for the law.
22: 3"I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, educated strictly according to our ancestral law, being zealous for God (theos), just as all of you are today.
22: 14Then he said, 'The God (theos) of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear his own voice;
23: 1While Paul was looking intently at the council he said, "Brothers, up to this day I have lived my life with a clear conscience before God (theos)."
23: 3At this Paul said to him, "God (theos) will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting there to judge me according to the law, and yet in violation of the law you order me to be struck?"
23: 4Those standing nearby said, "Do you dare to insult God (theos)'s high priest?"
24: 14But this I admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God (theos) of our ancestors, believing everything laid down according to the law or written in the prophets.
24: 15I have a hope in God (theos) - a hope that they themselves also accept - that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

26: 8Why is it thought incredible by any of you that God (theos) raises the dead?
26: 18to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God (theos), so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'
26: 20but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout the countryside of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God (theos) and do deeds consistent with repentance.
26: 22To this day I have had help from God (theos), and so I stand here, testifying to both small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would take place:

27: 23For last night there stood by me an angel of the God (theos) to whom I belong and whom I worship,

28: 6They were expecting him to swell up or drop dead, but after they had waited a long time and saw that nothing unusual had happened to him, they changed their minds and began to say that he was a god (theos).
28: 15The believers from there, when they heard of us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God (theos) and took courage.
28: 23After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God (theos) and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.
28: 28Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God (theos) has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."
28: 31proclaiming the kingdom of God (theos) and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.

1 John

1: 5This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God (theos) is light and in him there is no darkness at all.
2: 5but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God (theos) has reached perfection. By this we may be sure that we are in him:
2: 14I write to you, children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young people, because you are strong and the word of God (theos) abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
2: 17And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God (theos) live forever.
3: 1See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God (theos); and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
3: 2Beloved, we are God (theos)'s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.
3: 8Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God (theos) was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
3: 9Those who have been born of God (theos) do not sin, because his seed abides in them; they cannot sin, because they have been born of God (theos).
3: 10The children of God (theos) and the children of the devil are revealed in this way: all who do not do what is right are not from God (theos), nor are those who do not love their brothers and sisters.
3: 17How does God (theos)'s love abide in anyone who has the world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?
3: 20whenever our hearts condemn us; for God (theos) is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
3: 21Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God (theos);
4: 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God (theos); for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
4: 2By this you know the Spirit of God (theos): every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God (theos),
4: 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God (theos). And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.
4: 4Little children, you are from God (theos), and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
4: 6We are from God (theos). Whoever knows God (theos) listens to us, and whoever is not from God (theos) does not listen to us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
4: 7Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God (theos); everyone who loves is born of God (theos) and knows God (theos).
4: 8Whoever does not love does not know God (theos), for God (theos) is love.
4: 9God (theos)'s love was revealed among us in this way: God (theos) sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
4: 10In this is love, not that we loved God (theos) but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
4: 11Beloved, since God (theos) loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.
4: 12No one has ever seen God (theos); if we love one another, God (theos) lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
4: 15God (theos) abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God (theos), and they abide in God (theos).
4: 16So we have known and believe the love that God (theos) has for us. God (theos) is love, and those who abide in love abide in God (theos), and God (theos) abides in them.
4: 20Those who say, "I love God (theos)," and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God (theos) whom they have not seen.
4: 21The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God (theos) must love their brothers and sisters also.
5: 1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God (theos), and everyone who loves the parent loves the child.
5: 2By this we know that we love the children of God (theos), when we love God (theos) and obey his commandments.
5: 3For the love of God (theos) is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,
5: 4for whatever is born of God (theos) conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith.
5: 5Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God (theos)?
5: 9If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God (theos) is greater; for this is the testimony of God (theos) that he has testified to his Son.
5: 10Those who believe in the Son of God (theos) have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God (theos) have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God (theos) has given concerning his Son.
5: 11And this is the testimony: God (theos) gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
5: 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God (theos) does not have life.
5: 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God (theos), so that you may know that you have eternal life.
5: 18We know that those who are born of God (theos) do not sin, but the one who was born of God (theos) protects them, and the evil one does not touch them.
5: 19We know that we are God (theos)'s children, and that the whole world lies under the power of the evil one.
5: 20And we know that the Son of God (theos) has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God (theos) and eternal life.

2 John

1: 33 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God (theos) the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, in truth and love.
1: 99 Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God (theos); whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

3 John

1: 6they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on in a manner worthy of God (theos);
1: 11Beloved, do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God (theos); whoever does evil has not seen God (theos).
