Verb sōzō (to save) in the New Testament

(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Legend:
Red color: sōzō = concerns our future situation at the Judgment time and the coming of the kingdom of God.
Green color: sōzō = to be spared physical death
Blue color: sōzō = liberation of a form of evil: physical or moral illness, handicaps
Pink color: sōzō = is about the present transformation by the risen Jesus and the promise of entry into the kingdom of God.

Matthew

1: 21She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save (sōzō) his people from their sins."
8: 25And they went and woke him up, saying, "Lord, save (sōzō) us! We are perishing!"
9: 21for she said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be saved (sōzō)."
9: 22Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart, daughter; your faith has saved (sōzō) you." And instantly the woman was saved (sōzō).
10: 22and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved (sōzō).
14: 30But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save (sōzō) me!"
16: 25For those who want to save (sōzō) their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.
19: 25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astounded and said, "Then who can be saved (sōzō)?"
24: 13But the one who endures to the end will be saved (sōzō).

Mark

2: 10and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved (sōzō).

1 Corinthians

1: 18For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved (sōzō) it is the power of God.
1: 21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, God decided, through the foolishness of our proclamation, to save (sōzō) those who believe.
3: 15If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved (sōzō), but only as through fire.

2 Timothy

1: 9who saved (sōzō) us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
4: 18The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save (sōzō) me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Titus

3: 5he saved (sōzō) us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews

5: 7In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save (sōzō) him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
7: 25Consequently he is able for all time to save (sōzō) those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

James

1: 21Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save (sōzō) your souls.
2: 14What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save (sōzō) you?

1: 5Now I desire to remind you, though you are fully informed, that the Lord, who once for all saved (sōzō) a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
