Verb perisseuō (to abound) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more litteral meaning)


Matthew

5: 20For I tell you, unless your righteousness abounds (perisseuō) more than of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
12: 34You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things, when you are evil? For out of heart abounding (perisseuō) the mouth speaks.
13: 12For to those who have, more will be given, and they will abound (perisseuō); but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away.
14: 20And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was abounding (perisseuō) of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.
15: 37And all of them ate and were filled; and they took up the abounding (perisseuō) broken pieces, seven baskets full.
25: 29For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will be abounding (perisseuō); but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away.

Mark

Luke

6: 45The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the the heart abounding (perisseuō) that the mouth speaks.
9: 17And all ate and were filled. What was abounding (perisseuō) was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
12: 15And he said to them, "Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in what is abounding (perisseuō) from one's possessions."

John

6: 12When they were satisfied, he told his disciples, "Gather up the abounding (perisseuō) fragments, so that nothing may be lost."

16: 5So the churches were strengthened in the faith and was abounding (perisseuō) in numbers daily.
