The adjective kryptos (secret) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

6: 4so that your alms may be done in secret (kryptos); and your Father who sees in secret (kryptos) will reward you.
6: 6But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret (kryptos); and your Father who sees in secret (kryptos) will reward you.
10: 26"So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret (kryptos) that will not become known.

Mark

4: 22For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret (kryptos), except to come to light.

Luke

8: 17For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret (kryptos) that will not become known and come to light.
12: 2Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret (kryptos) that will not become known.

John

7: 4for no one who wants to be widely known acts in secret (kryptos). If you do these things, show yourself to the world."
