(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)
Matthew
4: 16 | the people who sat (kathēmai) in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat (kathēmai) in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." |
9: 9 | As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting (kathēmai) at the tax booth; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. |
11: 16 | "But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting (kathēmai) in the marketplaces and calling to one another, |
