Verb kathēmai (to sit) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)

Matthew

4: 16the people who sat (kathēmai) in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat (kathēmai) in the region and shadow of death light has dawned."
9: 9As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting (kathēmai) at the tax booth; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.
11: 16"But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting (kathēmai) in the marketplaces and calling to one another,
13: 1That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat (kathēmai) beside the sea.
13: 2Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat (kathēmai) there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach.
15: 29After Jesus had left that place, he passed along the Sea of Galilee, and he went up the mountain, where he sat (kathēmai) down.
19: 28Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man is seated on the throne of his glory, you who have followed me will also sit (kathēmai) on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Luke

1: 79to give light to those who sit (kathēmai) in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

John

2: 14In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers sitting (kathēmai) at their tables.
6: 3Jesus went up the mountain and sat (kathēmai) down there with his disciples.
9: 8The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar began to ask, "Is this not the man who used to sit (kathēmai) and beg?"
12: 15"Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting (kathēmai) on a donkey's colt!"

Acts

2: 2And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting (kathēmai).
2: 34For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit (kathēmai) at my right hand,
3: 10and they recognized him as the one who used to sit (kathēmai) and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
8: 28and was returning home; seated (kathēmai) in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
14: 8In Lystra there was a man sitting (kathēmai) who could not use his feet and had never walked, for he had been crippled from birth.
