Verb hypokrinomai (to pretend, to be hypocrite) in the Bible

Luke

20: 20So they watched him and sent spies who pretended (hypokrinomai) to be honest, in order to trap him by what he said, so as to hand him over to the jurisdiction and authority of the governor.

Sirach (LXX)

1: 29Be not an hypocrite (hypokrinomai) in the sight of men, and take good heed what thou speakest.
32: 15He that seeketh the law shall be filled therewith: but who is pretending (hypokrinomai) will be offended thereat.
33: 2A wise man hateth not the law; but he who is pretending (hypokrinomai) therein is as a ship in a storm.

2 Maccabees (LXX)

5: 25who coming to Jerusalem, and pretending (hypokrinomai) peace, did forbear till the holy day of the sabbath, when taking the Jews keeping holy day, he commanded his men to arm themselves.
