The noun ergon (work, deed) in the Gospels-Acts

Matthew

5: 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works (ergon) and give glory to your Father in heaven.
11: 2When John heard in prison the work (ergon) of the Messiah, he sent word by his disciples
11: 19the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds (ergon)."
23: 3therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do according to their deeds (ergon), for they do not practice what they teach.

Acts

5: 38So in the present case, I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone; because if this plan or this work (ergon) is of human origin, it will fail;

1 John

3: 8Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works (ergon) of the devil.
3: 12We must not be like Cain who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds (ergon) were evil and his brother's righteous.
3: 18Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and deed (ergon).

2 John

1: 11for to welcome is to participate in the evil deeds (ergon) of such a person.

3 John

1: 10So if I come, I will call attention to his deed (ergon) in spreading false charges against us. And not content with those charges, he refuses to welcome the friends, and even prevents those who want to do so and expels them from the church.
