Adverb ēdē (already) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

3: 10Already (ēdē) the ax is lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
5: 28But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already (ēdē) committed adultery with her in his heart.
14: 15When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is already (ēdē) late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves."
14: 24but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was already (ēdē) far from the land, for the wind was against them.
