Verb anoigō (to open) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more litteral meaning)


Legend:
Red color: anoigō = designates a part of the body that opens: the mouth, the eyes, the ears
Green color: anoigō = designates a door that opens
Blue color: anoigō = designates the sky that opens
Pink color: anoigō = designates another object that can be opened: a box, tombs, etc.

Matthew

2: 11On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening (anoigō) their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
3: 16And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened (anoigō) to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
5: 2And opening (anoigō) his mouth, he taught them, saying:
7: 7"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened (anoigō) for you.
7: 8For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened (anoigō).
9: 30And their eyes were opened (anoigō). Then Jesus sternly ordered them, "See that no one knows of this."

Mark

Luke

Acts
