17 Beware of them, for they will hand you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues; 18 and you will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. 19 When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you at that time; 20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

April 13 [1942]. Monday morning, 8:30 a.m.
In Matthew, I found these words this morning: "...and...you will be brought before governors and kings...etc." And then, "But when they hand you over, do not worry about what you will say or how, for what you say will be given to you in that very hour." –

I will give S. these words as a viaticum on my way to L[ippmann] and R[osenthal]. If I don't know any fear or worry these days, it may also be because I still don't see reality very well, because I live in another reality; but that doesn't exempt anyone from taking into account the one that surrounds us.
