Verb thyō (slaughter) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

22: 4Again he sent other slaves, saying, 'Tell those who have been invited: Look, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered (thyō), and everything is ready; come to the wedding banquet.'

Mark

14: 12On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is slaughtered (thyō), his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?"

Luke

15: 23And get the fatted calf and slaughter (thyō) it, and let us eat and celebrate;
15: 27He replied, 'Your brother has come, and your father has slaughtered (thyō) the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.'
15: 30But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you slaughtered (thyō) the fatted calf for him!'
22: 7Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be slaughtered (thyō).

John

10: 10The thief comes only to steal and slaughter (thyō) and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Acts
