Verb heuriskō (to find) in the New Testament

Matthew

1: 18Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found (heuriskō) to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
2: 8Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found (heuriskō) him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage."
7: 7"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find (heuriskō); knock, and the door will be opened for you.
7: 8For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds (heuriskō), and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
7: 14For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find (heuriskō) it.
8: 10When Jesus heard him, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, "Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found (heuriskō) such faith.
10: 39Those who find (heuriskō) their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find (heuriskō) it.
11: 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find (heuriskō) rest for your souls.
12: 43"When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it wanders through waterless regions looking for a resting place, but it finds (heuriskō) none.
12: 44Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' When it comes, it finds (heuriskō) it empty, swept, and put in order.

18: 28But that same slave, as he went out, found (heuriskō) one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat, he said, 'Pay what you owe.'
20: 6And about five o'clock he went out and found (heuriskō) others standing around; and he said to them, 'Why are you standing here idle all day?'
21: 2saying to them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find (heuriskō) a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me.
21: 19And seeing a fig tree by the side of the road, he went to it and found (heuriskō) nothing at all on it but leaves. Then he said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once.
22: 9Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find (heuriskō) to the wedding banquet.'
22: 10Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found (heuriskō), both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.
24: 46Blessed is that slave whom his master will find (heuriskō) at work when he arrives.
26: 40Then he came to the disciples and found (heuriskō) them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?

Mark

1: 37When they found (heuriskō) him, they said to him, "Everyone is searching for you."
7: 30So she went home, found (heuriskō) the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.
11: 2and said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find (heuriskō) tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it.
11: 4They went away and found (heuriskō) a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it,
11: 13Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see whether perhaps he would find (heuriskō) anything on it. When he came to it, he found (heuriskō) nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
13: 36or else he may find (heuriskō) you asleep when he comes suddenly.
14: 16So the disciples set out and went to the city, and found (heuriskō) everything as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal.
14: 37He came and found (heuriskō) them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep awake one hour?

14: 55Now the chief priests and the whole council were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; but they found (heuriskō) none.

Luke

1: 30The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found (heuriskō) favor with God.
2: 12This will be a sign for you: you will find (heuriskō) a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger."
2: 45When they did not find (heuriskō) him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him.
2: 46After three days they found (heuriskō) him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
4: 17and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found (heuriskō) the place where it was written:
5: 19but finding (heuriskō) no way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the middle of the crowd in front of Jesus.
6: 7The scribes and the Pharisees watched him to see whether he would cure on the sabbath, so that they might find (heuriskō) an accusation against him.
7: 9When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, he said, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found (heuriskō) such faith."
7: 10When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found (heuriskō) the slave in good health.
8: 35Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found (heuriskō) the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
9: 12The day was drawing to a close, and the twelve came to him and said, "Send the crowd away, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside, to lodge and find (heuriskō) provisions; for we are here in a deserted place."
9: 36When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found (heuriskō) alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.
11: 9"So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find (heuriskō); knock, and the door will be opened for you.

13: 7So he said to the gardener, 'See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find (heuriskō) none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?'
15: 4"Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds (heuriskō) it?
15: 5When he has found (heuriskō) it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices.
15: 6And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found (heuriskō) my sheep that was lost.'
15: 8"Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds (heuriskō) it?
15: 9When she has found (heuriskō) it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found (heuriskō) the coin that I had lost.'
15: 24for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found (heuriskō)!' And they began to celebrate.
15: 32But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found (heuriskō).'"
17: 18Was none of them found (heuriskō) to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"
18: 8I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find (heuriskō) faith on earth?"

19: 32So those who were sent departed and found (heuriskō) it as he had told them.
19: 48but they did not find (heuriskō) anything they could do, for all the people were spellbound by what they heard.

22: 45When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found (heuriskō) them sleeping because of grief,
23: 2They began to accuse him, saying, "We found (heuriskō) this man perverting our nation, forbidding us to pay taxes to the emperor, and saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king."
23: 4Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find (heuriskō) no basis for an accusation against this man."
23: 14and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was perverting the people; and here I have examined him in your presence and have not found (heuriskō) this man guilty of any of your charges against him.
23: 22A third time he said to them, "Why, what evil has he done? I have found (heuriskō) in him no ground for the sentence of death; I will therefore have him flogged and then release him."
24: 2They found (heuriskō) the stone rolled away from the tomb,
24: 3but when they went in, they did not find (heuriskō) the body of the Lord Jesus.
24: 23and when they did not find (heuriskō) his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive.
24: 24Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found (heuriskō) it just as the women had said; but they did not see him."
24: 33That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem; and they found (heuriskō) the eleven and their companions gathered together.

John

1: 41He first found (heuriskō) his brother Simon and said to him, "We have found (heuriskō) the Messiah" (which is translated Anointed).
1: 43The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found (heuriskō) Philip and said to him, "Follow me."
1: 45Philip found (heuriskō) Nathanael and said to him, "We have found (heuriskō) him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth."
2: 14In the temple he found (heuriskō) people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.
5: 14Later Jesus found (heuriskō) him in the temple and said to him, "See, you have been made well! Do not sin any more, so that nothing worse happens to you."

9: 35Jesus heard that they had driven him out, and when he found (heuriskō) him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
10: 9I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find (heuriskō) pasture.
11: 17When Jesus arrived, he found (heuriskō) that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days.
12: 14Jesus found (heuriskō) a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written:

21: 6He said to them, "Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find (heuriskō) some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish.

Acts

4: 21After threatening them again, they let them go, finding (heuriskō) no way to punish them because of the people, for all of them praised God for what had happened.
5: 10Immediately she fell down at his feet and died. When the young men came in they found (heuriskō) her dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
5: 22But when the temple police went there, they did not find (heuriskō) them in the prison; so they returned and reported,
5: 23"We found (heuriskō) the prison securely locked and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them, we found (heuriskō) no one inside."
5: 39but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them - in that case you may even be found (heuriskō) fighting against God!" They were convinced by him,
7: 11Now there came a famine throughout Egypt and Canaan, and great suffering, and our ancestors could find (heuriskō) no food.
7: 46who found (heuriskō) favor with God and asked that he might find (heuriskō) a dwelling place for the house of Jacob.

2 John

1: 4I was overjoyed to find (heuriskō) some of your children walking in the truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father.

Philippians

2: 7but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found (heuriskō) in human form,
3: 9and be found (heuriskō) in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith.

1 Corinthians

4: 2Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found (heuriskō) trustworthy.
15: 15We are even found (heuriskō) to be misrepresenting God, because we testified of God that he raised Christ - whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.

2 Corinthians

Romans

4: 1What then are we to say was found (heuriskō) by Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh?

2 Timothy

Hebrews

4: 16Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find (heuriskō) grace to help in time of need.

Revelation
