Expression egō eimi (I am) in John

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


John

1: 20He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, "I am (egō eimi) not the Messiah."
1: 27the one who is coming after me; I am (egō eimi) not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal."
3: 28You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, 'I am (egō eimi) not the Messiah, but I have been sent ahead of him.'
4: 26Jesus said to her, "I am (egō eimi) he, the one who is speaking to you."
6: 20But he said to them, "It is I (egō eimi); do not be afraid."
