Noun chōra (country, countryside, region, land) in the New Testament

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more litteral meaning)


2: 12And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country (chōra) by another road.
4: 16the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region (chōra) and shadow of death light has dawned."
8: 28When he came to the other side, to the country (chōra) of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs coming out of the tombs met him. They were so fierce that no one could pass that way.


1: 5And people from the whole Judean countryside (chōra) and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
5: 1They came to the other side of the sea, to the country (chōra) of the Gerasenes.

5: 4Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your lands (chōra), which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
