Noun mathētēs (disciple) in the New Testament

Legend:
Red color: mathētēs = followers of Jesus that accompany him, from whom the Twelve were selected.
Green color: mathētēs = the disciple in general
Blue color: mathētēs = disciples, as an organised group, other than those of Jesus (disciples of John and the Pharisees)

Matthew

5: 1When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples (mathētēs) came to him.
8: 21Another of his disciples (mathētēs) said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
8: 23And when he got into the boat, his disciples (mathētēs) followed him.
9: 10And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with him and his disciples (mathētēs).
9: 11When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples (mathētēs), "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
9: 14Then the disciples (mathētēs) of John came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples (mathētēs) do not fast?"
9: 19And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples (mathētēs).
9: 37Then he said to his disciples (mathētēs), "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
10: 1Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples (mathētēs) and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness.
10: 24"A disciple (mathētēs) is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master;
10: 25it is enough for the disciple (mathētēs) to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household!

26: 19So the disciples (mathētēs) did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the Passover meal.
26: 26While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples (mathētēs), and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."
26: 35Peter said to him, "Even though I must die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples (mathētēs).
26: 36Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples (mathētēs), "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
26: 40Then he came to the disciples (mathētēs) and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?

Mark

2: 15And as he sat at dinner in Levi's house, many tax collectors and sinners were also sitting with Jesus and his disciples (mathētēs) - for there were many who followed him.
2: 16When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples (mathētēs), "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
2: 18Now John's disciples (mathētēs) and the Pharisees were fasting; and people came and said to him, "Why do John's disciples (mathētēs) and the disciples (mathētēs) of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples (mathētēs) do not fast?"
2: 23One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples (mathētēs) began to pluck heads of grain.
3: 7Jesus departed with his disciples (mathētēs) to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him;
3: 9He told his disciples (mathētēs) to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him;
4: 34he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples (mathētēs).
5: 31And his disciples (mathētēs) said to him, "You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, 'Who touched me?'"

Luke

5: 30The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples (mathētēs), saying, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
5: 33Then they said to him, "John's disciples (mathētēs), like those of the Pharisees, frequently fast and pray, but yours eat and drink."
6: 1One sabbath while Jesus was going through the grainfields, his disciples (mathētēs) plucked some heads of grain, rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.
6: 13And when day came, he called his disciples (mathētēs) and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:
6: 17He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples (mathētēs) and a great multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon.
6: 20Then he looked up at his disciples (mathētēs) and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

1: 35The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples (mathētēs),

2: 11Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples (mathētēs) believed in him.
2: 12After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples (mathētēs); and they remained there a few days.
2: 17His disciples (mathētēs) remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

18: 16but Peter was standing outside at the gate. So the other disciple (mathētēs), who was known to the high priest, went out, spoke to the woman who guarded the gate, and brought Peter in.
18: 17The woman said to Peter, "You are not also one of this man's disciples (mathētēs), are you?" He said, "I am not."
18: 19Then the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples (mathētēs) and about his teaching.
18: 25Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They asked him, "You are not also one of his disciples (mathētēs), are you?" He denied it and said, "I am not."
19: 26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple (mathētēs) whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, "Woman, here is your son."
19: 27Then he said to the disciple (mathētēs), "Here is your mother." And from that hour the disciple (mathētēs) took her into his own home.
19: 38After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple (mathētēs) of Jesus, though a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission; so he came and removed his body.
20: 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple (mathētēs), the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."
20: 3Then Peter and the other disciple (mathētēs) set out and went toward the tomb.
20: 4The two were running together, but the other disciple (mathētēs) outran Peter and reached the tomb first.
20: 8Then the other disciple (mathētēs), who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed;
20: 10Then the disciples (mathētēs) returned to their homes.
20: 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples (mathētēs), "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these things to her.
20: 19When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples (mathētēs) had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."
20: 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples (mathētēs) rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
20: 25So the other disciples (mathētēs) told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe."
20: 26A week later his disciples (mathētēs) were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."
20: 30Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples (mathētēs), which are not written in this book.
21: 1After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples (mathētēs) by the Sea of Tiberias; and he showed himself in this way.
21: 2Gathered there together were Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples (mathētēs).
21: 4Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the beach; but the disciples (mathētēs) did not know that it was Jesus.
21: 7That disciple (mathētēs) whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on some clothes, for he was naked, and jumped into the sea.
21: 8But the other disciples (mathētēs) came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, only about a hundred yards off.
21: 12Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples (mathētēs) dared to ask him, "Who are you?" because they knew it was the Lord.
21: 14This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples (mathētēs) after he was raised from the dead.
21: 20Peter turned and saw the disciple (mathētēs) whom Jesus loved following them; he was the one who had reclined next to Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?"
21: 23So the rumor spread in the community that this disciple (mathētēs) would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?"
21: 24This is the disciple (mathētēs) who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true.

Acts

6: 1Now during those days, when the disciples (mathētēs) were increasing in number, the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food.
6: 2And the twelve called together the whole community of the disciples (mathētēs) and said, "It is not right that we should neglect the word of God in order to wait on tables.
6: 7The word of God continued to spread; the number of the disciples (mathētēs) increased greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
9: 1Meanwhile Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples (mathētēs) of the Lord, went to the high priest
9: 10Now there was a disciple (mathētēs) in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." He answered, "Here I am, Lord."

9: 25but his disciples (mathētēs) took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket.

9: 38Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples (mathētēs), who heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, "Please come to us without delay."
11: 26and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for an entire year they met with the church and taught a great many people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples (mathētēs) were first called "Christians."
11: 29The disciples (mathētēs) determined that according to their ability, each would send relief to the believers living in Judea;

15: 10Now therefore why are you putting God to the test by placing on the neck of the disciples (mathētēs) a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?
16: 1Paul went on also to Derbe and to Lystra, where there was a disciple (mathētēs) named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer; but his father was a Greek.
18: 23After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples (mathētēs).
18: 27And when he wished to cross over to Achaia, the believers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples (mathētēs) to welcome him. On his arrival he greatly helped those who through grace had become believers,
19: 1While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul passed through the interior regions and came to Ephesus, where he found some disciples (mathētēs).
19: 9When some stubbornly refused to believe and spoke evil of the Way before the congregation, he left them, taking the disciples (mathētēs) with him, and argued daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
19: 30Paul wished to go into the crowd, but the disciples (mathētēs) would not let him;
20: 1After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples (mathētēs); and after encouraging them and saying farewell, he left for Macedonia.
20: 30Some even from your own group will come distorting the truth in order to entice the disciples (mathētēs) to follow them.
21: 4We looked up the disciples (mathētēs) and stayed there for seven days. Through the Spirit they told Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.
