Adjective dyo (two) in the Gospels-Acts

(Translation from NRSV for the New Testament with a few modifications for a more literal meaning)


Matthew

4: 18As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two (dyo) brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea - for they were fishermen.
4: 21As he went from there, he saw two (dyo) other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
5: 41and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him for two (dyo).
6: 24"No one can serve two (dyo) masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
8: 28When he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two (dyo) demoniacs coming out of the tombs met him. They were so fierce that no one could pass that way.
9: 27As Jesus went on from there, two (dyo) blind men followed him, crying loudly, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
10: 10no bag for your journey, or two (dyo) tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for laborers deserve their food.

18: 9And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two (dyo) eyes and to be thrown into the hell of fire.
18: 16But if you are not listened to, take one or two (dyo) others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two (dyo) or three witnesses.
18: 19Again, truly I tell you, if two (dyo) of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
18: 20For where two (dyo) or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."
19: 5and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two (dyo) shall become one flesh'?
19: 6So they are no longer two (dyo), but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
20: 21And he said to her, "What do you want?" She said to him, "Declare that these two (dyo) sons of mine will sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom."
20: 24When the ten heard it, they were angry with the two (dyo) brothers.
20: 30There were two (dyo) blind men sitting by the roadside. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
21: 1When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two (dyo) disciples,
21: 28"What do you think? A man had two (dyo) sons; he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.'
21: 31Which of the two (dyo) did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you.
22: 40On these two (dyo) commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Mark

6: 7He called the twelve and began to send them out two (dyo) by two (dyo), and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

Luke

2: 24and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves or two (dyo) young pigeons."
